We present a measurement of the zenith angle distribution, up to theta = 75 degrees, of cosmic ray muons performed in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates, 24.54 degrees N, 54.43 degrees E), at sea level, rigidity cutoff similar to 14 GV. The measurement has been performed by using a muon tracker based on plastic scintillator strips, wavelength shifting fibers and silicon photomultipliers for a total of 200 readout channels arranged in a compact structure. To our knowledge this is the first measurement of this kind in the Arabian gulf area.

Abstract

We present a measurement of the zenith angle distribution, up to theta = 75 degrees, of cosmic ray muons performed in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates, 24.54 degrees N, 54.43 degrees E), at sea level, rigidity cutoff similar to 14 GV. The measurement has been performed by using a muon tracker based on plastic scintillator strips, wavelength shifting fibers and silicon photomultipliers for a total of 200 readout channels arranged in a compact structure. To our knowledge this is the first measurement of this kind in the Arabian gulf area.
